The road going halfway into the National Monument was paved. The second half and all parking areas was on rock hard flat gypsum. They use snowplows to keep the sand off of the road and parking areas.

You can park here and just hike wherever you want. Just do not get lost!

We could not leave without climbing a dune.

Some people come with snowboards. I just walked back down.
