Saguaro cactus is the cactus which you usually see in cartoons. They grow to over 50 feet tall and can have many arms. Saguaro National Park is divide into two parts. An eastern part located east of Tucson, and a western part located west of Tucson. Because the eastern part gets more rain fall it has the tallest Saguaro Cactus. Unfortunately, the road in the eastern part is being worked on and that part of the park is closed.

Inside the cactus is a wood frame.

Most arms bend up. But when the water content is not correct they grow in different directions.

Here is one with many arms.

Barrel cactus As they grow they lean toward the sun.

Because the Barrel cactus has a small root system, if they lean too far they fall over. We saw this one while we were hiking to another cactus.
