Part 3 - Nature Trail - The Cannon

Back to the Canadian Maritimes Directory

There were 4 interesting caves which you could view while on the nature trail.

The Cannon Cave was by far the most interesting.

Here are just a few of the pictures from the Cannon Cave.

These are the steps which you have to go down to view the Cannon Cave.
There is a nother set of steps on the other side which view another cave.
There are 4 caves between the two sets of steps.

The cave on the left is the Cannon. The one on the right is not named.

This is an entrance which allows you to enter the cave and get down to almost water level. It was very dark in there, this picture used a flash.

Looking back out through the cave opening.

Cannon Cave at Low Tide.
The back of the cave has an openning into another room.
At low tide the surf flows ever so slow and the cannon cannot be heard.

Cannon Cave at High Tide.
This was just after a medium size surge came into the cave.
It hit the back wall of the room and made a loud boom, spit out a stream of mist and a return surge of water.

Cannon Cave at High Tide.
This was just after a large surge came into the cave.
It hit the back wall of the room and made a huge boom and spit a stream of water.
