Seattle, WA - Part 2

Mount Rainier National Park

Back to the Travel Directory

Mom and I took the loop around Mount Rainier NP. It was 225 miles and over 7 hours. We only planned to stop at the northeast side, but once we got started, it was hard to stop.

Mount Rainier is 14,410 feet high.

We went to two visitor centers; Sunrise and Paradise. Sunrise (located in the northeast) is the highest visitors center at 6,245 feet. Paradise (on the south side) is about 4,100 feet.

We are on the nature trail at Sunrise visitors center.
Mount Rainier is in the clouds with the bright setting sun on them.
We could see the outline of the mountain, but the camera washed it out.

Still on the nature trail. About 350 feet above the visitor center and parking lot.
You can see Glacier Basin on the side of Rainier.

We are on the road to the Paradise visitors center.
The top of the mountain is about 10,000 feet above us.
By the time we got to the visitors center, the clouds completely hid the mountain.
